Pelvic floor physiotherapy plays a key role in recovery after pelvic surgery and childbirth. A pelvic floor physiotherapist can support rehabilitation following procedures such as prolapse repair, hysterectomy, Botox injections, endometriosis excision (laparoscopy), as well as after vaginal or caesarean birth.

Recovery following a radical prostatectomy can be up to 12 months. Research published by Overgard at al., (2008) showed significant reduction in urinary incontinence 12 months post op (79% continent) compared to patients who did not complete pelvic floor exercise training with a physiotherapist (58% continent).
